Last weekend was the Des Moines University Winter Gala, or medical school prom as it's affectionately referred to. The gala is a nice opportunity to get dressed up, go out to a fancy dinner, and dance the night away with your friends.
Dan and I got all spiffed up and went to a fabulous dinner with our friends Chris and Tarah at Centro downtown. Hands down, the best salmon I've ever had. The gala was beautiful. It really is like an upscale prom... with a bar. Being the plastic savvy kids we are, we forgot to bring cash again this year so Dan had to venture off in the skywalk in search of an ATM. We danced and enjoyed a few drinks and had a great time.
Of course after we had gotten to the dance, I pulled my camera out of my super mini purse and realized that the battery was dead. There's nothing more frustrating than realizing you wasted all that space in your super mini purse for a camera that is useless to you. Lucky for us, there was a professional photographer at the gala who walks around and snaps pictures of couples for purchase. We had one picture taken. Just one. One photo to remember the night and do you want to know what my husband did? He did blue steel. That's right, blue steel. That's why I married him. Because he's really, really ridiculously good looking.
Anyhow, here's the photo. It's little. I stole the thumbnail from the photographer's website because I really didn't feel like paying for blue steel when I have many other photos at home that feature it. (It's a favorite of Dan's.) I'm just wondering when magnum is coming out. It's just a matter of time before he opens the Dan Nelson Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too.
(Editor's Note: This post will likely make very little sense if you haven't seen Zoolander... and you will probably not know what I mean when I say eugoogooly. Eugoogooly.)
