We have tried to be really conscious of how much time we spend with the dogs now that they are sharing the house with their tiny, hairless brother. While they will never again reign as the number one cheese, we don't want them to feel forgotten or neglected. A dog's basic needs aren't just food, water and exercise. They need to be loved!
I think they have both adjusted quite well to a very big change to their world. Sammy has been a bit more reluctant toward Lucas and, for the most part, ignored him the first month. Slowly but surely, though, he has started to warm up to him. He is learning how to navigate the new life with a baby, just like the rest of us.
Perhaps part of that navigation includes new sleeping techniques to cope with a baby who wakes up crying many hours before Sammy is prepared to start his day!
